How to: Change the default directory for WordPad.
Solution:
Enter the desired default directory on the 'Shortcut' tabbed page of the 'WordPad Properties' dialog box.
1) Click the 'Start' button to display the 'Start' menu.
2) Select 'Programs' and select 'Accessories'. (A submenu appears.)
3) Select 'Windows Explorer'. (The 'Exploring - <drive>' window appears, where <drive> is the letter of the currently selected drive.)
4) Select the C:\WINDOWS\START MENU\PROGRAMS\ACCESSORIES folder.
5) Select the WordPad shortcut.
6) Select the 'File' menu and select 'Properties'. (The 'WordPad Properties' dialog box appears.)
7) Click the 'Shortcut' tab. (The 'Shortcut' tabbed page appears.)
8) Type the desired default directory in the 'Start in' text box.
EXAMPLE: C:\MY DOCUMENTS
9) Click 'OK' to close the 'WordPad Properties' dialog box.
10) Select the 'File' menu and select 'Close'. (WordPad points to the desired directory the next time it is opened from the Windows 'Start' menu.)
